Hearth & Haven
This project began with a clear vision: create an outdoor living space that feels like a true extension of the home. The result is a 20’ x 30’ covered room that blends seamlessly with the house both inside and out. With a roofline matched to the home, masonry carried through to the exterior, and walls replaced with full windows and doors, the transition from indoors to outdoors is almost effortless.
A Contemporary Approach to Comfort
The style of the space was carefully designed to align with the contemporary architecture of the home. Clean lines, thermal blue select pavers, and bluestone coping bring a modern sophistication, while warm accent lighting and natural textures soften the overall look. The space is private, functional, and highly versatile.
Outdoor Kitchen + Dining
An outdoor kitchen anchors the room, complete with a built-in grill, refrigerator, trash, and vent hood. Paired with a dining area, it gives the homeowners everything they need for cooking and entertaining outdoors without compromise.
Fire Features and Lounge Spaces
Two gathering spots make the space adaptable for any occasion. A gas fireplace, framed by stone shelves and a custom mantle, creates a focal point for lounging. A 4’ x 8’ gas fire pit adds a second place to gather, perfect for larger groups or evenings under the stars.
Year-Round Enjoyment
This outdoor room was designed for all-season use. Drop-down screens keep out summer wind and bugs, while solid vinyl panels add winter protection. Fans, dimmable lights, and two infrared heaters create a space that’s always comfortable. With added landscape lighting, the entire backyard comes alive after sunset.
Blending Inside and Out
What sets this project apart is the way it dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior living. Opening the wall of the house and replacing it with a full wall of windows and doors changed everything. Now, the interior flows directly into the outdoor room, making it feel like one unified living space.
A Backyard That Will Last
Every material was chosen for performance and longevity, from the masonry that matches the house to the carefully selected pavers and stonework. This is a space that will stand the test of time, both in durability and in style.
